Moments Of Joy

is my latest song release.

Behind The Song

My main instrumental was drums which I started playing at age 11.  I made my living playing in bands in clubs for a few years in my twenty’s.

Drum Rudiments

Drum rudiments are like scales to a piano.  They are what drummers practised a lot.

Riff From The Paradiddle

One rudiment is called the Paradiddle.   The paradiddle has a stick pattern of – R L R R L R L L .

R is for a right hand stroke, and L is for a left hand stroke.

It sounds like a stream of notes to most people.

What I did here was leave out the L – left hand strokes, and I got a riff that was only R – right hand notes, that sound like this  –

R – R R – R – –     Playing this pattern twice makes up one bar of music, so the notes are 16ths.

I then played melodic notes in this rhythm, which makes up the base Riff of the sound.
